FAQ
What areas do you cover?
We currently work within certain areas of South West London and Surrey. Look under areas covered for more details.
What experience do your companions have?
All our companions are experienced animal carers. Most have
owned their own pets and others will have experience working
with pets.
What security precautions do you take with your companions?
All our companions will have undergone face-to-face interviews, Police
Checks and Reference Checks before being given
any work.
How much do you charge?
Our Residential charge for a
24 hour period (part or whole) is £45. This is for
the full care of up to two pets. (feeding the fish are at
no cost!) The charge for each further dog is £5 and
cat is £2.50. If you have a whole menagerie we are
happy to offer a discount! Contact
us for more information. Our Visiting
charge is £10.00 per visit. This is for the care
of up to three pets. Each pet will be given individual attention
at each visit.
When do we pay you?
For our Residential Service we
require a 25% deposit at the time of booking. The remainder
of the balance should be paid within 7 days of our invoice.
For our Visiting Service the
invoice should be paid within 7 days of our invoice.
Is the deposit refundable?
No. The deposit ensures that a Residential Companion will
be assigned to you and that sitter will not be booked for
any other work.
What is involved in the initial consultation?
The initial consultation is a chance for us to meet both
you and your pets in surroundings that are familiar to them.
We will talk through both the physical and emotional needs
of your pets and any concerns that you may have. When you
make a booking we will ask you to complete a medical form
for each of your pets as well a home information questionnaire.
Will I have the chance to meet the sitter before the contract
starts?
South East Pet Companions is a small company
and the sitter is likely to have conducted the initial consultation.
If not, this can be arranged.
What if our Pet is taken ill?
Our Companions are there to care for the emotional and physical
welfare of all your pets. We ask all our customers to leave
day to day and emergency vet contact details, as well as
a signed treatment consent form and any pet insurance details
that you may have. All our Companions are genuine animal-lovers
and will not stand by if they see an animal in distress.
What if the Companion is taken ill?
Your pets and home will not be left alone. In the event
of an emergency we will bring in a replacement sitter who
will carry on the care of your pets and property to your
specifications. This may sometimes require us to bring in
a sitter through another agency. In these circumstances we
will use a person or agency known to us and you will not
incur any further expense.
What if our flight is delayed?
Your pets and home will not be left alone. We are all used
to our journeys being delayed and allow for this in our booking
systems. A sitter will remain until your return. If you are
delayed for a number of days and the sitter cannot stay we
will bring in a replacement who will carry on the day to
day care of your pets and property to your specifications.
This may sometimes require us to bring in a sitter through
another agency. In these circumstances we will use a person
or agency known to us and you will be charged for this extra
cost.
Do you offer House Sitting Services where no pets are involved?
We are happy to provide a house-sitting only service. Our
sitters will ensure the security of any property in their
care, collect post, water the garden, forward messages as
required.
